TEGNA Wins 83 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

McLEAN, VA – TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) today won 83 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, the most in the company’s history and more than any local broadcaster this year. TEGNA won six awards for overall excellence, the highest honor awarded, and nine for excellence in innovation. In addition, eight awards were given to new pilot concepts created by TEGNA innovators from our local stations. The Edward R. Murrow Awards are sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and honor outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.

KUSA in Denver won nine Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, tied for the most of any television station. KARE in Minneapolis won eight awards including one for overall excellence. WGRZ in Buffalo, WCNC in Charlotte, WBIR in Knoxville, KING in Seattle and KREM in Spokane also won overall excellence awards.

  • WKYC – Cleveland, OH won 2 awards including excellence in innovation
  • KGW – Portland, OR won 2 awards including excellence in innovation
