Then: Talk about your career path, how you got to where you are today at TEGNA.

My career path started in radio here in Dallas. I worked with 96.3 KSCS while in college starting in promotions and ending with being an on-air personality. I moved to Nashville with Cumulus and stayed there for about a year before coming back to North Texas to work at Texas Motor Speedway as a video producer.

Then, one glorious day Blair Nelson found me on LinkedIn and Alex Krueger hired me. As you can tell my career has been a little all over the place, but I think it has made me a well-rounded person to work with.

Now: What is your current role at TEGNA

I am a Marketing Producer at WFAA.

My Halo Moment: What was the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at TEGNA?

Without a doubt, the most rewarding project I have worked on is our “While I have your attention series. I’m so excited to see the next set focusing on our PRIDE coverage here at WFAA. I pursued this industry with hopes to help minds and hearts come together. Helping someone tell their story with a great determination for empathy produces truthful storytelling.

Good Company: What does being in good company mean to you?

Being in good company means being surrounded by people who inspire me to work harder every day. Everyone at TEGNA works hard and the products show!

Note to Self: What advice would you give yourself looking back on earlier days in your career

Never be afraid to go for what you want and ask people for help along the way. For the longest time, I thought I had to have the answer to everything, but I learned no one does. That is okay! That’s what makes working together so amazing and rewarding.

Tangible & Emotional Intelligence: What advice would you give to someone looking to work in media/sales/marketing

Make sure to never stop learning. Not just learning skills for work but also opening your mind and heart to experience people’s lives through their lens. I underestimate the skill of being curious about people. Curiosity leads to inspiration which leads to a better work-life.

PRIDE: Why is Pride Month important to you?

Pride month means a lot to me because it’s a reminder of how much love and dedication people have put in to make this world a better placefor everyone. I struggled coming out and going to my first Pride event opened my eyes to a world of love and acceptance. Coming out and accepting who I truly was, was a bit easier after that. It’s also a reminder of my responsibility as a human to spread kindness and have crucial conversations to help open people’s minds and hearts. Look, I know not everyone agrees with my lifestyle, but most of the time it’s because they don’t understand or have a toxic preconceived notion. My only goal is to kill them with kindness.
