For Women\u2019s History Month, we are celebrating some of our most fabulous females, and this week we\u2019re highlighting Beth Susic, Account Executive at 5 on Your Side<\/a> in St. Louis.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then: Talk about your career path how you got to where you are today at TEGNA.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

PERSISTENCE:<\/span><\/b> My professional career started at a digital marketing company in the Client Services department. I sat close to the sales team, and I loved the energy, competitiveness, and fun I would feel radiating from them every day. I knew I wanted to be a part of what they had going on. I applied for the next available sales position and was turned down – I didn’t have experience or product knowledge. So I took it upon myself to dive into every professional development opportunity my company offered: Google certification, sales training, communication, and leadership development.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I interviewed for that job three times before they gave me a chance. It wasn’t long before I was a regular in the winner’s circle, awarded the Sales Person of the Year multiple times, coaching teammates and rolling out packages I developed nationally.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I was recruited to TEGNA by a former colleague of that digital marketing company who recognized my dedication to excellence and believed in me.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now: What is your current role at TEGNA?\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

PROBLEM SOLVER:<\/span><\/b> I am an Account Executive. I use my passion for marketing, creativity, big heart (yes \u2013 you have to care to be successful!), and problem-solving skills to craft advertising plans for local businesses. It’s fun.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Halo Moment: What was the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at TEGNA?\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n

INNUMERABLE: <\/span><\/b>This will sound cheesy, but I believe that what I do changes businesses and lives. My clients don’t have money to waste and need their campaigns to produce RESULTS. I take that very seriously and understand it firsthand because my husband is a small business owner. Every client who trusts me is a part of my “halo moment.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Good Company: What does being in good company mean to you?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

CHARACTER:<\/span><\/b> Being in Good Company means doing what you say you’re going to do, delivering results, giving back to the community, and doing the right thing \u2013 even when no one is looking. I feel blessed to work with a good company and good human beings.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Note to Self: What advice would you give yourself looking back on earlier days in your career?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

NEVER GIVE UP:<\/span><\/b> Be intentional about what you set out to accomplish. Persistence pays off. You are smart. You are capable. You have everything you need to be successful, and you will pave your own path.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tangible & Emotional Intelligence: What advice would you give to someone looking to work in media\/sales\/marketing?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

ALIGNMENT:<\/span><\/b> Get started with a company that has a culture that aligns with your beliefs, work your butt off, and work your way up. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ATTITUDE: <\/span><\/b>Attitude is everything! Incredible happiness and change occur when you decide to control what you do have power over instead of obsessing over what you don’t.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why is Women’s History Month important to you?\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

CELEBRATE:<\/span><\/b> We don’t regularly think about our accomplishments, and we certainly don’t celebrate them. Women\u2019s History Month is an important reminder of everything we have done to make the world what it is today. <\/span><\/p>\n

I love this quote from Shireen Dodson, \u201cIf we want our girls to benefit from the courage and wisdom of the women before them, we have to share the stories.\u201d I hope my daughter Amelia, and all of the girls out there, see this and know they can play a critical role in shaping the future.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
