All over the country, drastic business decisions were made at a pace that made many business owners uneasy. Nobody knows that better than Richie Reece, Owner and Vice President of Hooley House, a restaurant and bar with four locations based in Cleveland, Ohio. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">TEGNA first profiled Reece and Hooley House in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tegnamarketingsolutions.com\/factsnotfear\/food-during-covid-19-pandemic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">April<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of this year.\u00a0 He is still continuing to adapt and adjust to the flurry of changes that impact his business.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe last few months have been a real rollercoaster ride,\u201d says Reese. \u201cWe were very quick to change in the beginning and all of the changes that we made had a huge impact on our business.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Those changes, assisted by\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">WKYC<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (TEGNA\u2019s affiliate in Cleveland) include a popular <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=o-7QSzWhpb4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Bottoms Up\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">campaign, in which customers could have access basic everyday essentials that were in short supply, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and bottled water. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe message and visual content in the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=o-7QSzWhpb4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hooley House\u2019s original commercial spot<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, providing scarce essentials showed the community that they understood Northeast Ohio\u2019s immediate needs and concerns for necessity and comfort,\u201d says Mary Alice Dreis, TEGNA Account Executive. \u201cThey were happy to help.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWe have actually had a lot of fun and have been re-energized in a lot of ways by creating new avenues and a bit of a new business plan. WKYC was a great avenue to get the word out.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Nearly six months after the launch of Hooley House\u2019s campaign, Reece attributes positive sales results to WKYC\u2019s proactive outreach, innovative strategies, and creative solutions.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cSince we started working with WKYC and TEGNA, there are things that we\u2019ve done in our restaurant based on some of the conversations we\u2019ve had. We\u2019ve changed our air filtration systems to the hospital-grade air filters and every single thing in our restaurant is touchless.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Reece adds, \u201cWe are now selling safety for people. They have to feel comfortable, or they\u2019re not going to come out.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">And Hooley House has done a great job of making its patrons feel safe, as Reese notes that sales are better than most of their industry counterparts. \u201cIn the state of Ohio, the majority of people are down 50 to 60 percent in sales from the prior year.\u201d He then adds, \u201cWe have four locations.
