\u201cTeachers are trying to fund classrooms and teaching environments that are completely new and they deserve our support,\u201d says Byron Wilkinson, Director of Sales at KVUE. \u201cWe want to raise them up<\/span>\u00a0as much as we can<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Enter the #TeachersCan-A-Thon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To thank Texas teachers for their unwavering commitment to students, the movement known as #TeachersCan is partnering with non-profit\u00a0<\/span>DonorsChoose<\/span>\u00a0and TEGNA\u2019s Texas stations to fund up to $1.5 million worth of classroom projects, fulfilling teacher\u00a0<\/span>wish lists<\/span>\u00a0submitted to\u00a0<\/span>KVUE.com\/teachers<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning on April 24th, individual donations to #TeachersCan will be matched by partners across the state, doubling the impact of contributions for a total of $1 million. With the telethon, TEGNA aims to raise an additional $500,000 to help fund teachers\u2019 classroom projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is such a neat crowdfunding project, says Jim Carson, Senior Account Executive at KVUE, noting that donors will be able to see how their donations will be used, as you can select which classroom projects you want to support. \u201cIt makes it very real for the donor.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To help get the word out and raise as much money as possible for the cause, KVUE won\u2019t be the only TEGNA affiliate that promotes the #TeachersCan-A-Thon.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe\u2019re going to build a ton of awareness and raise a lot of money for teachers because educating our kids is the most important thing we can do,\u201d says Carson.\u00a0<\/span> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTEGNA is enabling this huge movement to happen,\u201d says Wendi Hinson, Senior Account Executive at KVUE. \u201cI can\u2019t donate $1.5 million to teachers, but as part of TEGNA, I can help make it happen, and I\u2019ve got to be proud of that.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
