All full- and part-time employees (who work 20 or more hours per week) and their dependents are eligible to enroll in our benefits.

Health & Medicine

Our employees say that our medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance benefits are some of the best in the media industry because they offer competitiveness, affordability and choice. Depending on the medical plan chosen, employees can contribute towards a Health Savings Account (HSA) to which the company contributes up to $1,000, depending on the type of coverage chosen.

In today’s mobile world, having access to healthcare on-the-go is important. Through Teladoc, employees have 24/7 access to on-demand board-certified doctors and clinicians for non-emergency or general medical care and behavioral health therapy with licensed psychologists, therapists or psychiatrists who are available through video, phone or mobile app.

In addition, employees enrolled in TEGNA’s medical plans have access to Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy — therapy often used for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Parental, Maternity and Adoption Leave

Adding to your family is a life-changing event! Whether giving birth, adopting or fostering a child, all new parents receive at least six weeks paid parental leave to focus on their growing family. Women who give birth can take a minimum of 12 weeks maternity leave paid at 100 percent.

Retirement

The TEGNA 401(k) Savings Plan helps employees save now so they can experience financial security in the future. All employees (including part-time and temporary employees) can participate in the company-matched 401(k) Savings Plan and are 100 percent vested in the plan upon enrollment.

Paid Time Off and Company Holidays

Time away from the office is an important benefit that gives employees the opportunity to relax and refresh both mentally and physically. Our paid time off program includes all leave types such as vacation, sick, personal days and floating holidays.

Because it’s a meaningful day to our employees, in 2021, Juneteenth is now a paid company holiday. Additionally, the Day After Thanksgiving has become a Floating Holiday that employees may use at their discretion to observe a cultural or other holiday that is personally significant to them.

All employees can manage family needs while balancing work through a TEGNA-sponsored membership to Care@Work by Care.com. Whether managing distance learning, hiring a babysitter, tutor or nanny, pets who could use some mid-day love or assisting an aging loved one, employees have flexibility and peace of mind knowing that they have a back-up plan when they need it.

Life and Supplemental Insurance

We also provide basic life insurance coverage and give employees the option to purchase supplemental coverage for themselves and their dependents. Employees can also purchase Accident and Critical Illness Insurance coverage.

Income Protection Plan

Life happens and we want to help employees prepare for the unexpected. Using a combination of short- and long-term disability coverage, employees can continue their benefits should they become unable to work due to medical reasons. These are automatically provided to employees that meet eligibility criteria, and there is also an option to purchase additional long-term disability coverage.
