Gannett Enters Agreement to Sell Radio Stations to Evergreen Media

ARLINGTON, Va. — Cecil L. Walker, president and CEO, Gannett Broadcasting, announced today that Gannett has entered into an agreement to sell all of its radio stations, including WGCI-AM/FM, Chicago, KHKS-FM, Dallas and KKBQ-AM/FM, Houston, to Evergreen Media. The transaction is subject to FCC and other government approvals and is expected to close later this year.

After the sale of the radio stations, Gannett Broadcasting will consist of 16 television stations covering 16 percent of the USA, cable operations in five states and alarm security services.

In addition to its broadcasting operations, Gannett publishes 91 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY and USA WEEKEND, a newspaper magazine.
