Gannett Names Frank Spasoff Assistant Controller

MCLEAN, VA – Frank Spasoff, who has been director of internal audit for Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), has been appointed assistant controller of the company, it was announced today.

Spasoff joined Gannett in February, 2002 from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he was director of accounting and business advisory services. He is a certified public accountant and has a bachelor of science in accounting and finance from George Mason University.

“Since joining Gannett, Frank has been a valuable member of Gannett’s finance team,” said Gracia Martore, senior vice president and chief financial officer. “He’s demonstrated strong financial skills and leadership qualities from day one and we’re pleased he will be taking on these new responsibilities.”

Replacing Spasoff as director of internal audit will be Jane Ann Wimbush, CPA and CIA.

Wimbush has been with Protiviti Inc. and its predecessor since 1996, most recently serving as associate director. She also has worked for Johnson International Inc., Polo/Ralph Lauren in Munich, Germany, and the Society for Central Asian Studies in Oxford, England. She has a BA from the University of Arizona and a Certificate Award in accounting from the University of California at Los Angeles.

“Jane Ann’s depth of knowledge and broad range of experience will be a great asset for Gannett,” Martore said.
