Terry Horne Named President and Publisher of Statesman Journal in Salem, OR

McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) announced today that Terry Horne has been named president and publisher of the Statesman Journal in Salem, OR. In addition, Horne will become regional president of Gannett West/Interstate Group. Horne comes to the Statesman Journal after as president and publisher of the Pensacola (FL) News Journal.

“While his time in Pensacola was short, his impact was immediate. He handled two large weather crises, helped build advertising momentum and oversaw the move to a new building. Terry is a proven, results-oriented media executive who will be taking on a larger leadership role in Salem,” said Robert Dickey, president, Gannett U.S. Community Publishing.

Horne has led the Pensacola News Journal since January. He had previously been publisher of the East Valley Tribune in Arizona and general manager of 1013 Communications, which offers digital services in Phoenix, Dallas and Houston. Prior to that, Horne served as CEO and president of the Orange County (CA) Register. Horne has also worked for The Arizona Republic, where he was vice president of community newspapers. Horne also spent time with Swift Newspapers in Reno, Clarksburg Publishing in West Virginia, Thomson Newspapers, and Knight-Ridder, where he started as a staff writer for The Wichita (KS) Eagle.

He received his BA in journalism from Wichita State University and an MS in mass communications from Oklahoma State University. He is married with six children.
