Gannett to Webcast First-Quarter 2001 Earnings Conference Call

ARLINGTON, VA – Gannett Co., Inc. said today that its first-quarter 2001 earnings conference call with financial analysts will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. EST. The call will be accessible live to the media and general public via Internet Webcast and through a limited number of listen-only, dial-in conference lines.

The company’s earnings announcement will be released to news outlets and wire services before the market opens on April 17. The full text of the release and the financial tables will be available at that time on Gannett’s Web site, www.gannett.com.

To access the listen-only conference lines, dial 1-800-893-5903 beginning at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled 10:30 a.m. start of the call. Replay of the conference call will be available from Tuesday, April 17 through Tuesday, April 24. To access the replay, dial 1-800-642-1687. The access code for the replay is 429525.

The live Webcast will be accessible through the company’s Web site, www.gannett.com. To listen to the live Webcast access www.gannett.com and click on the link to the Webcast. Downloads of RealAudio or Windows Media, which are necessary to hear the Webcast, will be available. Allow at least 10 minutes to access Gannett’s home page and complete the links before the Webcast begins.

Replays of the conference call Webcast also will be available under “On the Street” at www.gannett.com beginning about two hours after the live event and continuing through April 24.
