Gannett Announces Annual Companywide Award Winners, Unsung Heroes

Gannett President and CEO Gracia Martore today announced the winners of the Companywide Awards Competition and Gannett’s Unsung Heroes. Winners, finalists and Unsung Heroes were honored during a Companywide Awards webcast and ceremony at Gannett corporate headquarters in McLean, VA.

“We are thrilled to honor our top employees today. Through their commitment and focus on enhancing products for, and service to, our consumers and business clients, they set a very high benchmark and serve as an inspiration and guiding light to us all,” said Martore.

Award winners and finalists are:
Manager of the Year – Winner: Jeff Lee, President and General Manager, WBIR, Knoxville, TN. Finalists: Mei-Mei Chan, Regional President, Gannett East Group / President & Publisher of The News-Press, US Community Publishing; and Joyce Jenereaux, Regional President, Michigan Newspaper Group / President, Detroit Media Partnership.
Innovator of the Year — Winner: Knight Stivender, General Manager of “12th & Broad,” Nashville, TN. Finalists: Digital Mobile Development Team; and U.S. Community Publishing Local Digital Solutions Network.
Sales Executive of the Year – Winner: Casey Anderson, Sales Executive, KING, Seattle, WA; Finalists: Emma Liley, Digital Consultant, Kendal, North West, Newsquest; David Marks, Senior Marketing Consultant, Clipper; and Gail Wiener, Senior Multimedia Account Executive, Key Accounts, Michigan.com, Detroit, MI.

Corporate Staffer of the Year – Winner: Kate Marymont, Senior Vice President/News, U.S. Community Publishing. Finalists: Julie Lusk, Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner, Broadcasting Division; and Jack Mundie, Director, Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations Services, Information Technology.

Best Client Solution – Winner: G/O Digital. Finalists: KGW, Portland, OR; National Sales; and Rochester (NY) Democrat & Chronicle.

Leadership & Diversity Al Neuharth Individual Winner: Yamiche Alcindor, Reporter, USA TODAY.

Leadership & Diversity Al Neuharth Unit Winner: Springfield (MO) News-Leader. Finalists: Clipper; and WLTX, Columbia, SC.
