Gannett Broadcasting Stations Win 44 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

McLEAN, VA – Gannett (NYSE: GCI) announced nine of its broadcasting stations won 44 regional 2010 Edward R. Murrow awards. The competition is sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association and honors outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.

“These Edward R. Murrow awards recognize unparalleled dedication to quality by our local journalists every single day,” said Dave Lougee, president of Gannett Broadcasting. “I am elated that their service to our local communities has been honored by the judges.”

Six Gannett stations won the highest award for “Overall Excellence.” Among those winning the Overall Excellence awards: KARE-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, which won a total of nine awards; WXIA-TV in Atlanta, GA, which won a total of eight; KUSA-TV in Denver, CO, and KTHV-TV in Little Rock, AR, each won a total of seven; KSDK-TV in St. Louis, MO, which won a total of five; and WBIR-TV in Knoxville, TN, which won a total of three.
