Gannett Headquarters: Turning Pink for a Cause

McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) said today that it is supporting the many national non-profit efforts to build momentum for breast cancer awareness around Mother’s Day weekend by turning the towers of its corporate headquarters in McLean pink this evening through Mother’s Day, May 9.

“We are very proud to be one of the many efforts around the country helping to promote breast cancer awareness this weekend. Turning our towers pink is one small way Gannett can help create further awareness of the many important steps people can take to combat breast cancer,” said Gracia Martore, Gannett’s president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Gannett also kicked off a month-long digital campaign for the National Breast Cancer Foundation promoting the non-profit’s Early Detection Plan. The campaign is featured on Gannett digital sites, including USATODAY.com and MomsLikeMe.com, and select Gannett Broadcasting and U.S. Community Publishing sites. Social marketing programs also have been woven into the overall campaign. Last October, Gannett partnered with NBCF in a nationwide campaign to promote early detection.

In addition, Walden University’s College of Nursing is sponsoring a National Breast Cancer Foundation Early Detection Plan campaign on nurse.com, which is part of Gannett Healthcare Group. The Gannett Healthcare Group’s campaign will feature a month-long web promotion on nurse.com, including a custom content webpage complete with breast cancer related articles, videos and photos, educational downloadable early detection handouts and two e-cards will be sent to the Gannett Healthcare group e-mail database. Full-page ads will run in 10 regional editions of Nursing Spectrum/NurseWeek, National Nurses week magazine issues starting May 6, and a full-page ad in the Women’s Health Specialty Guide.
