Gannett Names Clay Morgan General Manager and Editor of The Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, TN
McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc.’s (NYSE: GCI) U.S. Community Publishing division announced it has named Clay Morgan general manager and editor of The Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, TN, effective June 1. He formerly was director of content and audience development at Lebanon Publishing Company.
“Clay is an award-winning journalist who knows how to fully leverage the advantages of multi-platform delivery of content to increase print and digital readership,” said Bob Dickey, president of U.S. Community Publishing. “With his accomplishments, leadership skills and commitment to community service, Clay is the ideal choice for leading our Murfreesboro team.”
Prior to his work for Lebanon Publishing Company, Morgan served as an independent public relations consultant for Morgan Creative Services; editor and publisher of Heartland Publications; editor and publisher of Granite Publications; managing editor of Clarksdale (MS) Press Register; city editor of Gannett’s Hattiesburg (MS) American; and assistant publisher/news for Bartlett Newspapers.
Morgan, an Eagle Scout and U.S. Coast Guard veteran, has been honored by six state and regional press associations and led newsrooms to more than 100 state, regional and Associated Press Media Editors (APME) awards. He was named to the Texas Press Association’s “Top 20 Under 40” in 2006.
