Jeff Kiel Named President and Publisher of Florida Today
McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) announced Jeff Kiel has been named president and publisher of Florida Today Communications Group in Melbourne, FL, effective March 15. Kiel formerly was executive vice president of sales and marketing for Westinghouse Solar and before that, president and publisher of the San Jose (CA) Mercury News.
“Jeff will lead Florida Today’s management team forward,” said Robert Dickey, president of U.S. Community Publishing. “His extensive business experience will help position the organization for future success. Florida Today is known for its history of innovation and has a very aggressive agenda to serve readers across multiple publishing platforms. Jeff joins the team at a very exciting time.”
Kiel served as vice president of sales and marketing for San Jose from 2002 until he was named publisher in 2007. He moved to San Jose from Miami, where he had served as the vice president of finance and chief financial officer for the Miami Herald. Kiel held various positions at the Herald after joining them in 1988.
Kiel served on the Board of Directors of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of a number of community organizations in both San Jose and Miami. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. in Accounting.
