John Remes Named a Senior vice President of Gannett Television
ARLINGTON, VA – John Remes, president and general manager of KARE-TV, Gannett’s NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, also has been named a senior vice president of Gannett Television.
The announcement was made today by Cecil L. Walker, chairman and CEO of Gannett Broadcasting.
“John is a very strong leader and now will assume new responsibilities across Gannett Television. He will continue to be an important part of the Minneapolis community in his primary position as president and general manger of KARE,” Walker said.
As a part of this change, Remes recently assumed the division staff assignment for sales at Gannett Television. He was named president and general manager of KARE, in October 1996. He had previously served as vice president/broadcast from April 1994 and vice president/general sales manager from June 1993. He was named national sales manager in May 1988. Remes joined KARE in 1983 as an account executive. He graduated in 1980 from Cornell College, with a degree in political science.
Remes is vice chair of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association, past chairman of the Twin Cities Communication Council, chairman of the Twin Cities Dunkers Club and a board member of the Minnesota Orchestral Association.
In January 1998, Remes was named Manager of the Year for all of Gannett Co., Inc. He and his wife, Sandy, reside in Minnetonka, MN with daughter Britta and son Jacob.
