Marge Magner Named Nonexecutive Chairman of the Year by NYSE Governance Services
McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) Chairman Marge Magner was named Nonexecutive Chairman of the Year by New York Stock Exchange Governance Services as part of its inaugural 2014 Leadership Awards. Award winners were honored at the Leadership Awards ceremony on June 19 at the New York Stock Exchange. Eligible candidates included all publicly traded companies in the U.S.
The Nonexecutive Chairman of the Year award honors the “nonexecutive board chair who has a passion for advancing principles of good governance throughout the organization, the ability to objectively solve the most difficult boardroom challenges, and the experience to offer independent, sound guidance when the company faces both hurdles and opportunities,” according to NYSE Governance Services.
Magner was recognized for her leadership and for advancing the company’s bold strategy for growth. Magner has been on Gannett’s Board of Directors since February 2006 and was named chairman of Gannett in October 2011.
