Michelle Krans Named Group vice President

McLEAN, VA – Michelle Krans, president and publisher of The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA, was named today to the additional post of group vice president in the Pacific Group of Gannett’s Newspaper Division.

“Michelle is a fine example of the next generation of Gannett executives. She is innovative, decisive and a true leader,” said Sue Clark-Johnson, president of the Newspaper Division. “Her approach to management is to get the job done. She’ll be a great help to the publishers of the Pacific Group.”

Krans has been president and publisher of The Desert Sun since September 2005. Prior to that appointment, she was director of advertising, director of market development and manager of marketing and promotions at the paper. She also was director of market development at The Salinas Californian.

Krans was selected as Gannett’s Advertising Executive of the Year for 2005 for her performance as advertising director at The Desert Sun. A five-time winner, she also received a Chairman’s Ring. She is a graduate of California State University, San Bernardino.
