Nursing Spectrum Acquires NurseWeek from Jobson Publishing, LLC

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL and SUNNYVALE, CA- Nursing Spectrum and NurseWeek, two industry leaders in the nursing recruitment, information, and education industry, announced today an agreement in which Nursing Spectrum, a division of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), has acquired NurseWeek from Jobson Publishing, LLC.

Patti Rager, RN, MSN, MBA, president and publisher of Nursing Spectrum, said: “We are pleased to bring together these two nationally-known and highly-respected nursing communication companies. Nurse Week and Nursing Spectrum have a combined total of more than 30 years of experience educating, informing, and supporting registered nurses and serving the needs of nurse recruiters. The fact that NurseWeek and Nursing Spectrum share these common goals makes this acquisition a perfect fit. The resulting synergy will allow us to offer the widest range of products and services.

“Readers of both publications will benefit from even more compelling, award-winning articles and regional news targeted to RNs to help them excel in their careers. Our combined continuing education division, which includes self-study programs, study tours, books and seminars, will now comprise an even more comprehensive package of CE services for RNs.

“We are delighted that NurseWeek’s executive team of Ray Riordan, John Leggett, and Andy Baldwin has chosen to stay on with Nursing Spectrum to grow the company, We will continue to publish NurseWeek as a separate publication of Nursing Spectrum.” Rager said.

Ray Riordan will assume the position of senior vice president of advertising, Western region, Nursing Spectrum. Riordan said: “NurseWeek has always been committed to providing quality products and services to our customers and nurses in the community. Now that NurseWeek is part of Nursing Spectrum, we will have more resources for expanding that commitment.”

Steve Hauber, executive vice president for advertising, marketing, and interactive services, Nursing Spectrum, said: “The numbers say it all. Nursing Spectrum will now publish 12 regional magazines, with a combined circulation of more than 1 million registered nurses. The acquisition also expands the number, and distribution, of our numerous specialty publications, student guides, and Career Fitness Guides. RNs can find jobs across the country through our print products and websites, www.nursingspectrum.com and www.nurseweek.com. The two websites average more than 1.8 million page views per month. We’ll also be combining our successful job fair businesses so we can offer expanded events across the country in 2004.”
