Parker Named vice President and General Manager at WTSP-TV, Tampa/St. Petersburg

ARLINGTON, Va. — Noreen Parker has been named vice president and general manager at WTSP-TV, the Gannett-owned CBS affiliate in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla. She had previously been vice president/sales at the station.

The announcement was made by Cecil L. Walker, president and chief executive officer of Gannett Broadcasting. Parker replaces Steve Mauldin who resigned and announced plans to invest in a Dallas Internet business and launch a talent management company.

“Noreen will continue the commitment of WTSP to be the choice of Tampa Bay viewers for news, information and entertainment. We are confident that WTSP will grow in its importance to the vitality of the area under her leadership,” said Walker.

Parker has been WTSP’s vice president/sales since 1992. Prior to her move to the Tampa Bay area, she held the local sales manager position in WGHP-TV in Greensboro, N.C. She joined that station in 1984 as an account executive and was promoted to regional account executive in 1986. She had previously been in radio sales with WGLD-FM/Greensboro. She began her career in sales as a market research coordinator at WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh, joining that station after graduation.

Parker graduated with honors in 1981 from Robert Morris College with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate of the Year Award, which was based on academic and leadership accomplishments.

WTSP is part of Gannett Broadcasting’s 21 television station group covering 16.6% of U.S. TV homes.
