Renner Named President and Publisher of the News-Star at Monroe, La.

McLEAN, VA – Delinda D. Renner has been named president and publisher of The Monroe (La.) News-Star, effective June 28. She was formerly controller at The Montgomery (AL) Advertiser.

She succeeds Ed Major, who is retiring after 10 years as publisher in Monroe and 38 years in the newspaper business.

“Delinda is a proven and talented newspaper executive who is ready to take on new challenges,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division of Gannett Co., Inc. “I wish the Majors the best in their retirement, and thank Ed for his contributions to the company.”

Renner started her newspaper career in Monroe in 1990. After serving as assistant controller and controller for eight years in Monroe, she was promoted to controller in Montgomery in 1998. She is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe.
