TEGNA Wins 82 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

McLEAN, VA – TEGNA (NYSE: TGNA) today won 82 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including five for overall excellence, the highest honor awarded. TEGNA’s 82 awards are the most in the company’s history and are more than any other station group in 2017. The Edward R. Murrow Awards are sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and honors outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.

KUSA in Denver, CO won 12 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, more than any other station, including an award for Overall Excellence. WBIR in Knoxville, TN won their fifth consecutive Overall Excellence Award. KARE in Minneapolis, MN, KING in Seattle, WA and WGRZ in Buffalo, NY also won for Overall Excellence.

TEGNA also won four Excellence in Innovation awards, the first time the award has been given. TEGNA won for their original, innovative initiatives “NEXT” out of KUSA, “Charlie Foxtrot” out of WXIA in Atlanta, GA, “Media Bias” from WCSH in Portland, ME and WLBZ in Bangor, ME and at KXTV in Sacramento, CA.
