Three Gannett Newspapers Cited for Business Coverage

USA TODAY, The Detroit Free Press and The Des Moines Register were cited for overall excellence in the annual awards program of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

The annual contest recognizes the best business news reporting in 2009. Awards are given in four circulation groups for newspapers, as well as magazines and Web sites.

Other awards go to:

    Breaking News awards go to The Detroit Free Press for “Auto plans shredded,” and “GM bankruptcy.”
    Two awards – Enterprise and Projects — go to The Tennessean at Nashville for “Life on Hold,” a print and Web report on how the economy is affecting people in their 20s.
