Trammer Named President and Publisher at Elmira
ARLINGTON, Va. — Monte Trammer has been named president and publisher of the Star-Gazette in Elmira, N.Y.
He succeeds Margaret E. Buchanan, who last week was named president and publisher of The Idaho Statesman in Boise.
Trammer most recently had been president and publisher of The Saratogian in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He joined Gannett in 1982 at USA TODAY. He also served as assistant to the publisher of the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal before joining The Saratogian in 1986.
Trammer had remained with The Saratogian after the newspaper was acquired by the Journal Register Co. in March 1997.
“We welcome Monte back to Gannett,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division. “With his experience, he should do a fine job at the Star-Gazette.”
Gannett is a nationwide news and information company that publishes 75 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and USA WEEKEND, a newspaper magazine. Gannett also operates 21 television stations and cable television systems in major U.S. markets.
