Dave Neill Named President and Publisher of the Asheville Citizen-Times and U.S. Community Publishing Regional President

McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) announced today Dave Neill will become the new president and publisher of the Asheville (NC) Citizen-Times and regional president for the U.S. Community Publishing (USCP) East Group, effective Sept. 9. Prior to Asheville, Neill worked for The Naples (FL) Daily News, where he was president and publisher. He will succeed Randy Hammer, who recently retired as publisher after being with Gannett for nearly 40 years.

“Dave comes to Asheville with more than 30 years of publishing and newsroom experience,” said Robert Dickey, president of USCP. “His background gives him a unique understanding of all aspects of putting together multiple products across many platforms. We look forward to him joining the Gannett family and the Citizen-Times.”

Prior to joining The Naples Daily News, Neill was president of Portrait Publishing, LLC, a publishing consulting firm. In that position, he served as vice president of advertising for the Journal Newspapers, which later became The Washington Examiner, and as publisher of Washington Jewish Week. Neill has also worked as president of sales for Page Litho, Inc., a book and magazine manufacturer. Neill got his start in photography, serving in various positions including chief photographer for the Chandler Arizonan. He has also worked in several pre-press production roles at The Oakland (MI) Press and Kansas City (MO) Star.
