Fergus Mellon Named Gannett’s Senior Vice President of Pricing and Planning, National Sales

McLEAN, VA – Fergus Mellon has been named senior vice president of Pricing and Planning, National Sales for the Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), Mary Murcko, Gannett’s president of National Sales, announced today. He is responsible for sales pricing, planning and operational leadership and strategy of the National Sales Team. He reports to Murcko and is based in New York City.

“Fergus is a skilled business strategist with a proven track record of helping businesses successfully build and execute comprehensive sales and marketing plans that significantly grow revenue. He has a firm understanding of the needs of both the client and the business and is known for delivering exceptional results for each. We know Fergus will be a tremendous asset to the National Sales team,” said Murcko.

Mellon joins Gannett from Meebo, Inc., a consumer internet company, where he was senior director of Revenue Strategy and Development. He was responsible for the development of the company’s advertising business, including monetization strategy, indirect and international revenue, brand advertising packaging and pricing and business analytics. Prior to Meebo, Mellon was director of Ad Monetization Strategy at AOL. He has previously held positions at JP Morgan Chase, Buchanan Communications and Abbey National Bank (now Santander).

Mellon received his B.A. from the University of Warwick and holds a Master of Arts degree in Management from the University of Durham in Durham City, U.K., and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
