Gannett Names Group Controller for the South Newspaper Group

McLEAN, VA – Matthew W. Petro has been named group controller for the South Newspaper Group, it was announced today by the Gannett (NYSE: GCI) Newspaper Division.

Petro most recently was vice president of finance at The News-Press in Fort Myers, FL. He succeeds Patrick E. Dorsey, who became publisher of the recently acquired Tallahassee (FL) Democrat.

“Matt Petro is a strong financial executive whose record makes it clear he’s prepared to step into this larger role,” said Michael J. Coleman, senior group president of the South Group.

Petro joined The News-Press in 1983, where he has served in numerous financial management positions. He is a graduate of Towson State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
