Gannett Receives Four Sigma Delta Chi Awards
The Asbury Park Press, Poughkeepsie Journal, Springfield News-Leader and WKYC in Cleveland all won national Sigma Delta Chi Awards. The awards are given out by The Society of Professional Journalism and recognize exceptional professional journalism produced in 2012.
- The Asbury Park Press won for Deadline Reporting (daily circulation of 50,001-100,000) for its work covering Superstorm Sandy at the Jersey Shore.
Mary Beth Pfeiffer of the Poughkeepsie Journal won Best Investigative Reporting (daily circulation 1-50,000) for her piece “No Small thing”.
The Springfield News-Leader won the Public Service Journalism Writing Award (daily circulation of 1-50,000) for its Making a Difference in the Life of Every Child series.
WKYC in Cleveland won for Breaking News Coverage (large market station: 1-50 market) for coverage of the Chardon School shooting.
