Gannett Supply Names Kruger Its Newsprint Supplier of the Year
ARLINGTON, Va. — Gannett Supply Corporation announced today that Kruger, Inc., headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, has won its 1997 Newsprint Supplier of the Year Award as well as its 1997 Quality Supplier of the Year Award.
Gannett Supply Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gannett Co., Inc., is the centralized purchasing organization responsible for the procurement of all of Gannett’s newsprint, capital equipment and other company-wide commodities.
Karen Moreno, president of Gannett Supply, said, “Kruger has won this award for 11 of the 17 years we’ve been conducting our survey. The quality of its product and service to Gannett newspapers is second to none. It is no coincidence that Kruger is Gannett’s largest supplier of newsprint.”
The Gannett Supply survey is conducted annually with all Gannett newspapers. It solicits responses based on newsprint companies’ performance in all areas of quality and service for the previous year. Previous years’ winners include Donohue, Inc., Alberta Newsprint Company and Weyerhaeuser.
Gannett is a nationwide news and information company that publishes 87 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and USA WEEKEND, a newspaper magazine. Gannett also operates 20 television stations and cable television systems in five states.
