Stout Named President/Publisher at the Daily News Leader, Staunton, Va.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Gary T. Stout has been named president and publisher of The Daily News Leader at Staunton, Va.

In his 19-year career with Gannett, Stout previously had served as president and publisher of the Little Falls (Minn.) Daily Transcript, The Fremont (Neb.) Tribune and the Danville (Ill.) Commercial News. Since 1988, he has served as president of the Gannett Offset Group based in Springfield, Va.

“We’re pleased to have an executive of Gary’s experience available to lead The Daily News Leader as it continues to grow with the Staunton community,” said Gary L. Watson, president of Gannett’s Newspaper Division. “In addition, this assignment allows Gary to remain in a part of the country that he and his family like.”

Stout succeeds Wesley Wampler, who resigned. A successor to Stout at the Gannett Offset Group will be named shortly.
