Gannett Board Approves Dividend Increase

McLEAN, VA – Gannett Co., Inc.’s (NYSE:GCI) board of directors today declared a regular quarterly dividend of 25 cents per share, the 35th increase since Gannett became a public company in 1967. This represents an increase of 4.2 percent.

The new quarterly dividend is payable on Oct. 1, 2003 to shareholders of record on Sept. 13, 2003.

Douglas H. McCorkindale, chairman, president and CEO, said: “This will be the 141st consecutive quarterly dividend since Gannett went public – a record of financial success of which we are proud and proof of our ongoing commitment to shareholders.”
