Jensen Named President and Publisher at Gainesville, Ga.; Bailey Retires

ARLINGTON, Va. — Chris E. Jensen has been named president and publisher of The Times at Gainesville, Ga. He succeeds Sandra R. Bailey, who is retiring.

“Sandra Bailey has had a distinguished career with Gannett and we wish her only the best,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division. “We’re fortunate that an executive of the caliber of Chris Jensen is moving back to his home country in the Southeast and The Times.”

Jensen had served as president of the El Paso Times, Inc. since December 1991. He previously had been president and publisher of Gannett newspapers in Muskogee, Okla., and Great Falls, Mont. He began his career with Gannett at the Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal, where he served in a variety of executive roles. He is a native of Pensacola.

Jensen was succeeded in El Paso by Mack Quintana.

Gannett is a nationwide news and information company that publishes 87 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and USA WEEKEND, a newspaper magazine. Gannett also operates 20 television stations, cable television systems in five states and alarm security services.
