Publishers Named in Fort Myers, Fla., and Springfield, Mo.
ARLINGTON, Va. — Two executive assignment changes were announced today in Gannett’s Newspaper Division.
— Frederick T. (Fritz) Jacobi was named president and publisher of the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla. He previously was president and publisher of the Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader.
— Danny A. Martin was named president and publisher of the News-Leader. He previously held a similar position in Fort Myers.
“Fritz and Dan both are experienced publishers with established records,” said Gary L. Watson president of the Newspaper Division. “Their skills and talents are well suited for their new assignments.”
Jacobi, 42, joined Gannett in 1985 as circulation director of the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal. He also has served on the corporate circulation staff and as president and publisher of the Wausau (Wis.) Daily Herald before moving to Springfield in 1992.
Martin, 54, began his career with Gannett in 1971 at the Battle Creek (Mich.) Enquirer, where he served in several editing roles, including managing editor. He also served as an editor at USA TODAY and as president and publisher of Gannett newspapers in Port Huron, Mich., and Huntington, W.Va. He joined the News-Press in 1989.
