Stephen Munn Elected to the Board of Directors
ARLINGTON, Va. — Stephen P. Munn, chairman of the board of Carlisle Companies Inc., has been elected to the Board of Directors of Gannett Co., Inc., the company announced today.
“Steve Munn is a very successful executive,” said Douglas H. McCorkindale, Gannett chairman, president and CEO. “We welcome the opportunity to benefit from his diverse talents and experience.”
Munn has been with Carlisle since 1988 when he joined the company as its chief executive officer and president. In 1993, he also was named chairman of the board.
Prior to joining Carlisle, Munn served in various top executive positions with Carrier Corporation since 1976.
Munn received a BA degree in economics from St. Lawrence University and a MBA from the State University of New York.
Gannett directors serve for staggered terms, with approximately one-third of the board standing for election each year. Munn’s term began on March 13, 2001, and he joins the class of directors who will stand for re-election at the shareholders meeting in May 2001. With his election, Gannett directors number seven.
