Krans Named President, Publisher of Gannett’s Palm Springs, CA Newspaper

McLEAN, VA – Michelle M. Krans today was named president and publisher of The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA, said Sue Clark-Johnson, president-designate of the Newspaper Division of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI).

“Michelle brings a passion for the newspaper business combined with a real interest in helping the communities we serve,” Clark-Johnson said. “She has a thorough knowledge of the market and is prepared to lead this newspaper for years to come. I am very pleased Michelle will be running Palm Springs.”

Krans replaces Robert Dickey, who last week was named senior group president of the Pacific Newspaper Group and chairman of Phoenix Newspapers.

Krans has been Advertising and Marketing director of The Desert Sun since 2001. She began her Gannett career at the Palm Springs newspaper as the Marketing and Promotions manager in 1990. She also has served as Market Development manager; Custom Publishing manager and Market Development director at the paper. From 1985 to 1990, she was with McCord Insurance Services in Studio City, CA.
